K-Day minus 1

CNN have just released their viewing schedule for the major event occurring on Tuesday, January 20th.

They have committed to providing 24/7 coverage starting in the early hours of Tuesday, however they have stated that they will interrupt the coverage of the main event very occasionally so that viewers can catch up with the secondary 'proceedings' of the same day - Obama's Inauguration Ceremony.

The tentative schedule for the main TV coverage is:

* Arrival of the limousine cavalcade at the Rex Hospital Main Entrance and the entry of Keith R's knees - approximately, 6:30 am;
* Commencement of the surgery on THE knees - approximately, 9:00 am;
* Anticipated completion of the surgery - approximately, 12 noon. [It is understood that CNN will then quickly pan to the Inauguration Ceremony for twenty minutes or so].

It is not known whether the anticipated snowfall expected overnight tonight in Central North Carolina will impact this schedule. Stay tuned.

It is expected that THE knees will not be available for comment until Wednesday, January 21st.

K-Day minus 3

Summary of week's activities.

7 1/2 weeks since the last cigarette. Meetings with orthopedic surgeon and Rex Hospital on Monday 12th. Slight hiccup at surgeon's meeting - requiring 'last minute' visit on Friday 16.

Registrations, blood tests, meeting with anesthetist, and lots of paperwork at Rex. Was asked whether I had any issues with a spinal instead of a general anesthetic? I responded with "As long as I don't hear or see the surgeon when he cranks up his power saw or lathe, I don't mind."

Interestingly enough, I was bragging on Wednesday and Thursday that, as the day of the surgery was getting closer, amazingly the pain in my knees was getting less and less. In addition, my range of motion appeared to be improving. I must have been bragging too much as when Thursday afternoon came around, I could hardly bloody walk! Teach me to talk too much.

Short visit with surgeon on Friday - "Houston. We have no problems. We have lift-off at 9 am on Tuesday."
